Oceanside Pier

The Oceanside Pier has been a staple in our life since the early 1990. This picture was taken by our mom back around 1992… ish. You can tell the day is foggy with that spring or early summer marine layer (June Gloom anyone?). I would think this photo would have been shot from a disposable camera that wasn’t quite able to catch all the details we’re so used to in our current digital age.

I love this photo. There is nothing overly special about this picture. But everything about it is special.

To start, our mom is behind the camera. Second, she’s taking the photo of her kids in the water (I’m sure you can see some heads bobbing around in the small shore breakers). Third, the Oceanside Pier is such a beautiful staple of the city that this image alone is special. Fourth, since the end of the pier caught fire during the spring of this year, having this complete view of the Pier is a treasure. Finally, just knowing that this photo represents our family unit together is enough to make this shot a priceless image.

Long life the 1990s!
